On the way to the top: HAIMER sponsors Paralympics athlete Leander Kress
Leander Kress, member of the German Paralympics team in Beijing 2022, has defined his goal for the future: He wants to become a gold medalist at the Paralympic Games of 2026 in Para alpine skiing! HAIMER is proud to support him as a sponsor to achieve his goals.
HAIMER has been supporting sports teams of different disciplines for many years, both in professional and amateur sports. Surely, the flagships are the partnerships with FC Augsburg and the Augsburger Panthers. Especially regionality and the values of team sports were the key factors for HAIMER's engagement in sports so far.
But exceptions prove the rule and so HAIMER proudly announces a special sponsorship with a young, ambitious single athlete, we want to support on his way to the top!
Leander Kress, member of the German Paralympics team in Beijing 2022, has defined his goal for the future: He wants to become a gold medalist at the Paralympic Games of 2026 in Para alpine skiing!
Diagnosed with bone cancer in his thigh at the early age of eight, the life of the entire family changed out of a sudden. Unfortunately, the life-threatening cancer in the end, was only able to be treated by amputation of the entire thigh. Using modern surgical techniques - a so-called reversal plastic surgery - as well as prostheses and the positive influence of family and physiotherapists, he first learned to walk again and then found his way into sports. Leander is - in his own words – “forever grateful” for the support and the "push" in this direction. After all, in addition to his participation in the Paralympics, sports in general allows him to live a life free of physical discomfort.
„You can do anything!" is the motto guiding the actions of the 21-year-old, both in his private life and, above all, in his sporting activities, and so, step by step, he developed a career as a professional athlete. The sports management student has already given the HAIMER sales team insights into his day by day self-motivation, how he beat his cancer through his positive mindset and how he deals with downs in his career to come back stronger.
Supporting this outstanding young athlete and person from Friedberg is a very special thing for us. We look forward to working with Leander and wish him all the best for the upcoming season!
